99NN is a 501(c)3 non-profit that supports neighborhoods to be climate-ready and connected through participatory mapping, local storytelling, and sustainable design implementation.
As Los Angeles County grapples with the strains of housing demand, climate change, recovery from wild fires, pandemics, and global tourism — 99NN looks to celebrate local histories and empower communities to shape their built and natural environments, defining the direction of capital investments that benefit community connectedness, strength in adaptation, and community health.
What We Do
Neighborhood Networks
99NN advances three types of neighborhood networks comprising an ecosystem of “resilient community hubs” for gathering and human connection as we adapt to climate events, health events, and even mega events. We center these neighborhood networks at and around parks, river corridors, schools, libraries, and transportation networks—ensuring equitable access to all.
Event-Based Networks activate social connections
Place-Based Networks connect places of home, work, school, shopping, and play.
Map + Story-Based Networks preserve and amplify community culture, history, and purpose.
